I found the first week of EDCI 336 very interesting. As someone who loves creating content, wether that be on instagram or TikTok, the topic of social media and privacy really resonates with me. I often forget how much information these apps have on their users, such as their interests, their passwords, their search history, their appearance, etc. Basically their whole identities. As someone going into the profession of teaching, where you are constantly surrounded by minors, I think this topic is really important to be aware of at all times. For instance, teachers must be careful about what they choose to post, especially when it comes to their students, which can be difficult when you want to show off your students beautiful art. In the summer, I work as a summer camp leader, and it is so difficult to not take pictures of or with the kids because they are so cute and always ask. I did not take pictures because my boss said that we are not allowed, but after learning about privacy issues, I know understand why this could be an issue. For example, if photos got out of kids that are in foster care, you could be putting them in danger, by announcing their whereabouts. This made me think of two kids in my camp who were in foster care and how I never thought about this before when wanting to take photos with them.
